Coordination of the Collaborative Inspection of Ionizing Radiation Generator Safety with the East Java Provincial Health Office and the West Java Provincial DPMPTSP

Located at the East Java Provincial Health Office, the Directorate of Inspection of Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials (DIFRZR) held a meeting with the East Java Provincial Health Office to discuss the memorandum of understanding between the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) and the East Java Regional Government on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

Specifically, this meeting was held in the context of developing participatory supervision of the use of nuclear energy as a source of ionizing radiation (SRP) in the health sector in the East Java region.

Present from DIFRZR, the Head of the Participatory Supervision Human Resources Development Team for Radiation Facilities and Radioactive Materials, Bambang Riyono, with Widiyastuti and M. Rizki Ridhallahi. "In general, this collaboration is intended to increase the supervisory load, especially regarding the use of ionizing radiation sources, from the supervision that has been carried out by the Health Office," said Bambang.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Health Office, Mohamad Yoto, said that the Health Service also needs to know about the standards and guidelines that need to be in health facilities that utilize ionizing radiation sources so that personnel in the facilities are safe and secure.

The meeting discussed the points that will later need to be included in the MoU. In addition, technical matters that need to be supervised during the implementation of supervision in health facilities that use ionizing radiation sources were also discussed.

Previously, DIFRZR BAPETEN had also visited the West Java Province Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Office (DPMPTSP) on May 20, 2024, for the implementation of Technical Guidance for the Implementation of Collaborative Inspections, which will be attended by DPMPTSTP supervisory personnel and Manpower and Transmigration Service (Disnakertrans) supervisory personnel in West Java from 27 Regencies/Cities in West Java.

The Coordinator of Supervision Activities at the West Java DPMPTSP, Arinal Legia, welcomed the technical guidance activities and will optimally facilitate these activities both offline and online.

It is expected that with various collaborations carried out by BAPETEN, we will be able to strengthen the supervision activities of the use of ionizing radiation and radioactive materials in Indonesia so that the safety and security of workers, the community, and the environment from the dangers of ionizing radiation will be created optimally.
